Triple S: Successfully Single and Saved

This morning I was meditating about my life and how thankful to God I am for the change He’s done in my mind and heart. I was particularly thinking on my singleness and what it means.  I am so very proud of myself for finally following God’s lead on relationships and singleness.  I didn’t get this way overnight!  I had a LOT of bumps in the road before I finally made a quality decision to get on the path of the straight and narrow.  Staying on this path takes total trust in God.  Let me share some things I’ve learned while living successfully in this season of singleness:
1.    You must realize and know that God loves you and has a beautiful plan for your life. (Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope).  You have to stop asking “God, why don’t I have anyone?” and ask “God, what is it that I am supposed to be doing for Your Kingdom during this time?”  Listen for an answer and pursue what He tells you.
2.   Recognize that you are the daughter of a King, the King of kings.  Get to know yourself and let God show you just how beautiful you truly are! No longer settle for less than His best in ANY area of your life, especially in relationships.  If you are not sure what the daughter of a King looks and acts like, surround yourself with women who DO and glean from them.
3.   Close any doors and gates that God has instructed you to close, meaning, if the relationship is over it’s OVER!  I had an ex who burned me badly and I was using his guilt and remorse as weapons to “get back at him” by playing with his emotions. I felt powerful every time I did it.  When I came to the end of myself, I TRULY forgave him.  I still continued to talk to him from time to time but each time I talked to him, I felt myself being pulled back in.  On more than one occasion God told me to close the door! No calls, texting, NOTHING!  I closed the door and said goodbye in a voicemail. He STILL tries to contact me via text but I always delete them and NEVER respond!  Say what you mean, mean what you say and let your actions back up your words.
4.    Keep yourself out of situations that could lead you to compromise your walk with God.  Since I don’t know when I’ll get married, now is not the time for me to date.  If you can’t picture yourself marrying him, don’t date him.  I’m in a season of singleness and I act as such.  There is no middle ground for me!  My companion will be my HUSBAND, not a man who has me hanging around until he finds better.  And you know what? I’m not going to have a man hanging around me until I find better.  That’s not how “grown women” handle their business.
5.   Be confident that your mate will find YOU at the appointed time.  The word says in Proverbs 18:22, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord,” NOT “she who goes looking.”
6.    Be happy, complete and confident in YOU!  If you are not happy with you, nobody else will be happy with you.  If you’re not complete in Christ, nobody else will complete you!
These principles help me smile everyday!  There's more I could share but I'll save it for another post. My life is how it’s supposed to be for such a time as this. My Daddy loves me and stops at nothing to make sure I have the BEST!!!!

  1. THIS IS GOOD TAM. iT TOOK AWHILE FOR ME TO ACCEPT CERTAIN THINGS ALSO BUT ONCE I DID I CAN SAY I HAVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER. NO MORE SLEEPNESS NIGHTS, NO MORE HEART ACHES, NO MORE GUILT FROM THE WEIGHT OF SIN. I FOUND ME AND I LOVE IT. WHEN I FOUND ME AND BECAME CONFIDENT IN WHO I WAS IN CHRIST, SOMEONE ELSE FOUND ME ALSO. GOD IS GOOD. THIS IS RIGHT ON POINT.
